FROM MY WORLD

I Made a Bet ….  And Won

I didn’t learn email in some shiny marketing seminar. I learned it behind a checkout counter in one of Israel’s roughest neighborhoods, where the cops treated everyone like a walking accusation.

One shift, a crew of local heroes decided I was their entertainment. I pushed back. They called the cops. And somehow I got the file. That’s the day I stopped waiting for life to “get better” and started looking for an exit I could control.

Then I saw one line online that hit like a steel-toed boot: whoever owns a list and emails it daily makes money. So I made the bet.

I wasn’t a natural writer, but I had something better: templates, Kennedy’s book, Swipe files, Headlines, and Bullet points. I piled them up like spare parts I could snap together whenever I needed to move.

And yeah — I still use them.

This morning, my copywriter asked for a story. I opened my narrative folder, grabbed one, dropped it into a template, and shipped it. No drama. Just systems.

If you want momentum, build your folder. One piece at a time.

MINDSET MAKEOVER

Five Actions, One Box

Most people think motivation is universal — offer money and everyone will move. That’s the myth. What trips people up is believing incentives are one-size-fits-all, so they slap the same reward on every problem and wonder why nothing changes.

Here’s one example. My son Chris wanted that airplane Lego for months, so we printed the set, divided it into 20 portions, and told him: color one portion for every five useful things you do. Because he already thinks in game loops, he started playing piano, doing chores, and reading without being dragged.

By contrast, my daughter didn’t care about five bucks per chapter; her currency was nail polish and small trinkets, which meant money didn’t move her. And with my wife Anastasia, a few words of recognition did more than jewelry ever would. Those are concrete differences: 20 boxes, 5 actions per box, one motivating currency per person.

Here’s the blunt truth: motivation is a currency — accept its denominations. Because people respond to what they value, you must design incentives to match their internal economy, so they actually choose the behavior you want.

FOR YOUR LISTENING PLEASURE

The Trick Behind “Irresistible Influence”

I had a chat with Marshall Sylver. He dropped one definition that stopped me cold: irresistible influence is when someone asks you for what you’re selling — and believes it was their idea. That line alone could save you years of frustration, but the interview goes way further.

He explains why all buying starts in the emotional mind, why fear of buying becomes fear of selling, and why beginners choke on emailing their list. At one point, he even admits he used this same psychology to knock Tony Robbins off TV for five months. That alone is worth a listen.

If you want to understand the real mechanics behind attention, emotion, and closing — the stuff gurus pretend is “personality” — this conversation hands you the wiring diagram.

Listen in and let it change the way you pitch forever.

CURATED READS

The 1-Page Marketing Plan by Allan Dib

If there’s one book I wish someone had smacked me over the head with back when I was drowning in confusion, shiny objects, and “gurus” … it’s this one.

The 1-Page Marketing Plan is the book that takes all the marketing chaos in your head — the funnels, the avatars, the messaging, the “OMG what do I do first?” — and distills it into something even your half-asleep, coffee-deprived self can follow:

➡️ ONE PAGE.

That’s it.

Nothing close to a 900-page MBA textbook or “marketing is art” nonsense.  Just a clean, simple roadmap that forces you to:

  • Figure out who you’re talking to

  • Decide how you’re getting them

  • And actually turn them into money

The reason I love this book?

Because it slaps you with a truth most marketers avoid:

If you can’t describe your marketing plan on one page… You don’t have a plan.

If you’re building an online business — especially if you feel like you’re juggling 17 strategies and none of them are fully working — this book will create the clarity you wish you had months ago.
