The Radio Station That Rules the World

Ever notice how no one seems to have the patience to sit through anything longer than a TikTok these days? Long emails, long articles, even long conversations—forget it.

And sure, you could blame the dopamine drip that TikTok serves on a silver platter. But here’s the real deal: It’s not about attention span. It’s about intention span.

We all walk around tuned into a single, unrelenting radio station playing 24/7 between our ears: WHIFM—What’s In It For Me.

Yes, even the saintly people donating to charity are doing it for the warm fuzzies it gives them. Everyone’s tuned into their version of WHIFM, and here’s the kicker: The “what’s in it for me” changes depending on where they are in life.

Take me, for example. Back when I worked at a toxic chemical facility (and yes, it was as bad as it sounds), my WHIFM was survival.

This place wasn’t just depressing; it was a health hazard. We were forced to take breaks every 45 minutes because if we didn’t, the fumes could knock us out cold. 

The cherry on top? A coworker of mine actually got cancer while I was there.

I wasn’t thinking about Christmas presents or the latest pair of Air Jordans. My only focus was how the hell do I escape this death trap?

Every email I opened, every video I watched, every website I Googled was about making money online. And you know what? Those emails could’ve been 1,000 words long, and I still would’ve read them twice if they promised a way out of that nightmare.

That’s the secret to crafting killer emails. Forget word count. If what you’re writing speaks directly to someone’s WHIFM, they’ll devour every word like it’s the last slice of pizza.

So, when you’re writing, ask yourself:

  • Am I speaking to their pain points?

  • Am I offering a solution they desperately need?

  • Am I tuning into their personal WHIFM?

If the answer’s yes, keep going. Write the damn novel if you have to. But if it’s just filler or fluff? Kill it. 

Nobody has time for fluff when they’re trying to escape their version of a toxic chemical plant.

No More Excuses in 2025

Here we are, January 2025. The confetti’s been swept up, the gym memberships are already collecting dust, and most people’s “new year, new me” goals? Yeah, they’ve faded faster than last year’s TikTok trends.

But let’s be real. You and I both know that fluffy, feel-good resolutions were never going to cut it. What we need—what you need—are specific, gut-punching goals that light a fire under you every single day.

This is the year to stop dabbling. Stop treating life like a side hustle. Stop being vague about what you want and hoping the universe magically delivers it.

Your brain is a GPS. Give it vague instructions like “I want to be successful,” and it’ll take you on the scenic route to nowhere. 

But lock in something like:

  • “I’m going to hit $10k/month by July 1st, 2025, selling XYZ”

  • “I’m going to quit my soul-sucking 9-to-5 by November 1st, 2025, and finally start that online business”

…and watch what happens. Suddenly, every decision you make becomes clear:

  • Does this get me closer to my goal, or is it a distraction?

  • Am I building momentum, or am I just scrolling social media pretending it’s research?

This kind of clarity doesn’t just push you forward—it obliterates excuses. 

Because let’s face it, excuses are just fear in a clever disguise. “The course didn’t work.” “The market is too competitive.” “I don’t have time.” We’ve all been there. 

But deep down? You know it’s not the guru’s fault. It’s not the system. It’s not your circumstances.

It’s you.

I know that stings, but here’s the upside: If you’re the problem, you’re also the solution. When you stop justifying and start obsessing over what you really want, everything changes.

And trust me, 2025 is the year to make it happen. 

Not because the calendar flipped, but because you’re done settling. You’re done with vague dreams. You’re ready to zero in on goals so specific and so motivating that you can’t sleep until you’ve crushed them.

So, here’s the question: What’s your GPS locked onto right now? Is it set to “whatever happens, happens”? Or are you finally ready to take the wheel and drive toward something that makes this year worth it?
