You know what’s funny? People think I’m some sort of digital marketing wizard just because I’ve cracked a few codes and made a few million.
But the truth is, sometimes the simplest lessons in this game come from the ugliest truths—literally.
Case in point: landing pages.
A lot of folks I coach obsess over making their landing pages look "perfect."
They hire designers, pay for flashy animations, and load their pages with heavy graphics. And you know what happens?
They crash. Burn. Flop harder than a pancake on Sunday morning.
Here’s the deal: ugly almost always wins when it comes to landing pages.
It’s not about looking good. It’s about converting strangers into subscribers—and eventually buyers.
Ugly pages tend to out-convert those fancy "corporate" designs.
Why? Because ugly doesn’t distract. It doesn’t confuse. It’s pure, raw, and gets straight to the point.
But here’s the kicker: It’s not enough to slap some ugly text on a white background. You need a killer headline that grabs attention faster than a toddler spotting a cookie jar.
Let’s talk numbers now.
One of my clients recently ran 300 clicks through one of our custom-built landing pages (we make them for free for our traffic buyers—yeah, we’re that good). He got a 50% opt-in rate. Six sales.
This guy had never made a sale before!
You’d think he’d throw a party, right? Nope. He emailed us asking why he only got six sales.
Here’s the thing: before this, he had no clue what to expect.
