Oof. I Tested Everything. Here's What Actually Hooks Brains.

Let me say something that might ruffle a few feathers:

Your audience doesn’t have a short attention span… your content just sucks.

Oof. I said it.

You see, there’s this never-ending back-and-forth online marketers love to cry about. “Should I create long-form content? Or keep it short and snappy? Should my emails be 200 words or 2,000?”

I’ve heard it for years. I’ve even been in the trenches of it, testing everything from TikTok-style shorts to emails that would make Tolstoy blush.

And after all the testing, researching, and face-palming… here's my verdict:

It’s not about the format. It’s about the FEELING.

Let me explain.

I recently caught myself watching hours—yes, HOURS—of YouTube videos about different countries to potentially move to. Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Dubai. Even got on Zoom with some expat whisperers who basically help rich folks relocate like it’s a Netflix series.

Did I skip around like a coked-up squirrel on TikTok?

Nope.

I devoured long-form content like a starving man at an all-you-can-eat buffet.

The same thing happened when I researched stem cells for my back. (Spoiler: I didn’t do it. Turns out I prefer not gambling with spinal cancer.)

I inhaled hours of podcasts. Scoured Reddit threads. Watched shady clinic YouTubes from Colombia to Mexico. Hell, I even read long-ass scientific reports. (That’s how you know I was serious.)

Why? Because I cared. The subject mattered. My brain was locked in.

That’s the secret.

If your prospect gives a damn about what you’re saying—if they’re emotionally engaged—they’ll consume it, no matter how long it is.

And if they don’t?

You could hand them the Gospel in 3 bullet points, and they’ll still swipe past like it’s last week’s salad.

This long vs short debate goes way back. From direct mail days to Facebook ads to emails, it’s the same song on repeat.

But here’s what I’ve always lived by:

Your copy should be as long as it needs to be to move the reader off the damn fence.

Period.

You’re not writing content for the masses. You’re writing for the 10% who care enough to read, listen, or watch the whole thing—and maybe even buy.

So quit worrying about being short. Start focusing on being compelling.

And if you need a cheat code, just remember this little gem I keep bringing up like your grandma’s favorite casserole:

“People will do anything for those who encourage their dreams, justify their failures, allay their fears, confirm their suspicions, and help them throw rocks at their enemies.”

Nail that, and you can write a damn novel in your next email and still rake in sales.

Here’s the difference:

The entrepreneur works like hell just to avoid having a boss.

The business owner builds a machine that works—without them being chained to it.

Because true freedom isn’t about working from anywhere. It’s about not needing to work at all.

You know what’s underrated? Peace of mind.

Getting paid while you play Scrabble on a rainy day in Mexico. Seeing surprise $7K drops into your account while your kids are off in gadget-land. Waking up not in a panic over leads, clients, fires, or Monday.

That’s the real flex.

Look, some people can hustle forever. The Grant Cardones and Gary Vees of the world—they’re wired for it. I’m not.

I need a system. A machine. A cake recipe that prints dollars without melting my brain.

Because hustle might build your business...
