FROM MY WORLD

I'm Glad Aweber Nuked My Business

There are two moments in my life I’ll never forget:
The birth of my daughter…
…and the day Aweber killed my 100,000-person email list.

Now, I’ll be honest. Back then, if you’d asked me which one mattered more to me at the time… I might have said “the list.” (Don’t worry, I’ve since repented. But hey—my daughter wasn’t pulling in $90k/month!)

One click.
One soulless email from “Compliance.”
And poof—everything I had worked for vanished overnight.

No warning.
No chance to export.
Not even the dignity of a “walk of shame” with my data in a cardboard box.

I was wrecked. Kitchen floor, fetal position, ugly crying wrecked.

And yet… three days later, I was back.

Not because Aweber had mercy. Not because the universe suddenly felt generous. But because I learned one of the most valuable lessons in business and in life:

It’s not about avoiding disaster—it’s about how fast you recover from it.

Here’s what I found:

  • While I was sulking, my team wasn’t. They got creative, found new traffic sources, and replaced what I’d lost.

  • A random old backup on my laptop saved 60% of my list, which got me back in the game.

  • Most importantly, I realized that successful people don’t escape problems—they just rebound faster than everyone else.

Look, the guy working a “safe” 9-to-5 may never lose 100k subscribers in a night. But he’ll also never get to wrestle with million-dollar problems. Entrepreneurs? We sign up for chaos. And the only thing that separates the ones who make it from the ones who quit is how fast we get off the kitchen floor and ask:

“Okay… what can I do from here?”

So here’s my challenge for you this week:
Next time life sucker-punches you—and it will—skip the three-day pity party. Cry if you must, smash a plate or two if you’re into that kind of therapy… but then reframe it. Ask yourself: “How is this happening for me, not to me?”

Because sometimes the obstacle isn’t blocking your path.
Sometimes—it is the path.

MY GIFT FOR YOU

The Switch That Decides Your Wealth—Learn to Flip It In A Weekend

If traffic were the problem, you’d be rich. What’s really throttling you is the operating system behind your money decisions. Over two Saturdays, I’ll walk you through a 2-step reset—remove the “poverty viruses,” install the money OS that makes the right moves feel safe and obvious, so your tactics finally work the way they should. It’s live, hands-on, zero hypnosis or manifesting, and guaranteed. We do it in a small room so I can coach you in real time, then lock it in with follow-up support. Seats are limited for a reason, and my show-up-and-feel-it guarantee makes it riskless.

MINDSET MAKEOVER

The Dickens Exercise: A Better Way to Motivate Yourself.

Most people think success comes from chasing a dream so shiny it makes you drool. The fancy car, the beach house, the “I’ll never work again” fantasy.

Cute. But here’s the problem: shiny dreams wear off fast.

What really gets you moving isn’t the dream. It’s the nightmare.

The nightmare of waking up 5 years from now, stuck in the same job you hate.
The nightmare of looking 15 years down the road and realizing your health, your bank account, and your relationships are all worse, not better.
The nightmare of being 50 years older and knowing—without a doubt—you wasted your one shot.

That’s not “positive visualization.” That’s the Dickens Exercise. And it works because nothing motivates like fear of regret.

I’ve done it myself. When I was younger, I imagined the person I’d become if I didn’t change—overweight, isolated, invisible. And it scared me so badly I dropped 20 pounds in two months, rebuilt my life, and never looked back.

Here’s the truth: people don’t change because of the dream. They change because the pain of staying the same finally outweighs the pain of changing.

So if you’re stuck, stop asking what your dream life looks like. Instead, ask yourself:
“If I don’t change, what ugly version of me am I headed for?”

Then look that future straight in the face… and run like hell in the other direction.

FOR YOUR LISTENING PLEASURE

The Trick that Made Dave Dee $330,000 in 75 Minutes

Before Dave Dee was one of the top names at GKIC, he was a struggling entertainer trying to figure out how to get more gigs. Then he discovered Dan Kennedy… and everything changed.

In this episode, we dive into Dave’s wild journey from mentalist to CMO, his $330K breakout session that shocked the room, and the real reason most webinars fail before they even start.

If you sell anything using presentations, this one’s packed with hard-earned insights and zero fluff. You’ll walk away seeing the art of selling through a whole new lens.

CURATED READS

The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss

Tim Ferriss’s The 4-Hour Workweek isn’t just a book—it’s a permission slip.

Permission to stop working like a mule for pennies.
Permission to question why “success” has to look like 60-hour weeks and no time to breathe.
Permission to design your life on your terms.

Now, let’s be real. Most people don’t read Ferriss’s book and suddenly start working four hours a week while sipping coconuts in Bali. That’s the fantasy people mock.

But here’s the truth: if you apply even 10% of what’s in this book—outsourcing, automation, lifestyle design—you’ll never look at work the same way again.

For me, it wasn’t about working less. It was about working smarter. About stripping away all the “busy work” that makes you feel productive but keeps you broke.

If you’ve ever thought, “Isn’t there a better way to do this?”—this book will answer with a big, bold “YES.”

So do yourself a favor: grab it, read it, and let it infect your brain. Because once you taste the idea of building a business that serves your life (not the other way around), you’ll never go back to the grind.
