FROM MY WORLD
My Brother Thought Shopify Was Easy and Paid the Price
A long time ago—back when Shopify was the hottest new thing in online marketing—my brother called me up.
“Igor, I’m thinking about getting into Shopify.”
Now, if you’ve been around the internet marketing world for a while, you know how these trends go. Every six months, there’s a new ‘gold rush.’
Back then, it was Shopify. Today, it’s AI. Tomorrow, who knows?
So I asked him, “Why Shopify?”
His answer? “Because it looks easy.”
And that’s when I knew he was about to walk straight into a brick wall.
See, back then, Shopify was being sold as the ultimate business-in-a-box.
Find a cheap product on Alibaba.
Slap a 10X markup on it.
Run some Facebook ads.
Retire rich.
At least, that’s how the gurus made it sound.
Reality? Not so much.
9 out of 10 products flopped.
Ad costs skyrocketed because everyone was doing the same thing.
The second you found a winning product, 50 copycats stole your entire store overnight.
And here’s the kicker—the real money wasn’t in selling products.
It was in selling courses about selling products.
I knew a guy who made $15K/month with his Shopify store.
Sounds solid, right? Well, he was making $30K/month selling Shopify coaching.
Because it’s always easier to sell the dream than to actually build it.
Now, don’t get me wrong—e-commerce works. Shopify works. But if you go into it thinking it’s going to be easy, fast, or cheap—you’re already screwed.
And the same applies to everything in business.
Affiliate marketing? Not easy.
Solo ads? Not easy.
YouTube, Facebook ads, podcasting? Not easy.
Everything looks simple until you actually do it.
So here’s the real question: What set of problems are you willing to struggle through?
Because no matter what business you choose, there will be struggle. And if you’re not ready for that… you’re just chasing the next shiny object.

MINDSET MAKEOVER
The Fast Eat the Slow
A few years ago, I knew a guy who ran a booming e-commerce business. Let’s call him Mark.
Mark was killing it—six figures a month, ads running like a dream, customers flooding in. He thought he had cracked the code.
Then, overnight, everything collapsed.
His ad costs skyrocketed.
His Facebook account got restricted.
His once-loyal customers? They started buying from competitors who adapted faster than he did.
See, while Mark was stuck in 2017, running the same old campaigns, his competitors were optimizing for mobile, leveraging TikTok, and jumping on new trends. They saw where the market was heading, and they adjusted before it was too late.
Mark didn’t. And his business died.
This isn’t just about marketing. It’s about survival.
Google changes its algorithm? Adapt or die.
Social media bans your account? Adapt or die.
Email open rates drop? Adapt or die.
Look, I get it. Change is uncomfortable. It forces you to rethink everything you thought was working. But in business, the only constant is change.
The ones who make it long-term aren’t the smartest.
They aren’t even the hardest workers.
They’re the ones who adapt the fastest.
So, ask yourself—are you keeping up? Or are you still stuck in yesterday’s game?
Because the market doesn’t care how successful you used to be.
It only rewards those who evolve.
