FROM MY WORLD
My First Crime Was a $50 Marketing Lesson
Let me tell you about the day I became a thief.
Not the kind that robs banks.
Not the kind that steals cars.
Nope.
The kind that sneaks into his mom’s purse, snatches her credit card, and runs it online for a $50 deposit on a program he couldn’t possibly afford.
Why?
Because I had just read the first marketing message that truly hijacked my brain.
Picture this: a long-haired, hippie-looking guy, lounging in a hammock, casually talking about making $6K–$10K a month online… while working just a few hours a week.
That was it. The words flipped a switch in my mind.
Suddenly, the internet wasn’t a tool.
It was a doorway to freedom.
A chicken-plucker turned Costa Rica beach bum making more online than in his factory job?
To me, that wasn’t a “story.” That was a map out of prison.
And I was ready to follow it anywhere.
Now, was it a $3,000 network marketing program I couldn’t afford? Yes.
Was it reckless to run my mom’s card for $50? Absolutely.
Did I regret it? Not for a second.
Because that message lit a fire in me that’s been burning for 18+ years.
Here’s the kicker though:
Most marketing today feels like that same hammock-dude ad, just recycled 10 million times over.
Everyone’s “working from home.”
Everyone’s “making $10K a month.”
Everyone’s “living the dream.”
So if you want to win in today’s market, you can’t just say the thing everyone else is saying.
You need to find a way to say it differently.
To give it a hook.
To slap people’s brains so hard with your words that they never forget you.
Because great marketing messages don’t just make sales.
They stick.
They live rent-free in people’s heads for years.
And sometimes, just sometimes…
They make 17-year-old kids commit small financial crimes against their mothers.

MINDSET MAKEOVER
The Judgment Tax.
Here’s a weird thought:
If money had a conscience… teachers would be billionaires, priests would be rolling in Bentleys, and drug dealers would be broke.
But that’s not how it works. Because money doesn’t care.
It doesn’t care if you earned it sweating 14-hour days in a warehouse or if you wrote a single sales letter that makes cash while you sleep.
It doesn’t care if you “deserved” it, “worked hard enough” for it, or if your Aunt May thinks you’re a lazy bum.
Money is just… neutral.
The only thing that makes it “good” or “bad” is the story you attach to it. And most of those stories? They’re garbage hand-me-downs:
“Easy money is dangerous.”
“Success is only for the lucky.”
“Money changes people.”
No. What changes people is their relationship with money.
Here’s the kicker though—money myths aren’t the biggest dream-killers. Fear of judgment is.
Every time someone decides to go off the beaten path—launch a business, try something new, chase freedom instead of a paycheck—they don’t just wrestle with their own doubts. They wrestle with everyone else’s opinions.
Your family, your friends, your coworkers—they’ll all have something to say. And if you let their noise become your truth, you’re done.
So here’s the shift: stop giving money a personality it doesn’t have. Stop waiting for approval you don’t need.
Money doesn’t care.
So maybe it’s time you stopped caring too.
