FROM MY WORLD

How I Used Fear to Build a Life of Freedom

There’s a moment when the fear of staying the same becomes greater than the fear of change.

For me, that moment came in a beat-up 1999 Daewoo Nubira—the kind of car that kills your dating life before it even starts.

I had just stormed out of the house after another drunken argument with my dad. He thought my online marketing efforts were a joke. It's a waste of time. He reminded me of this every time he got plastered.

But that night, the fight wasn’t just about my “stupid” business.

It was about survival.

I was 22, dead broke, and working 12-hour shifts scrubbing hotel rooms. My dad had given up on finding work, my mom was grinding night shifts, and despite both our incomes, we were sinking deeper into debt.

Then, sitting in that car, fuming, I opened the glove compartment.

Inside was a bank document. A loan my dad had taken out… to pay off another loan.

We weren’t just struggling. We were one bad month away from living on the street.

In that instant, my entire perspective flipped.

The real enemy wasn’t my dad.

It was poverty.

And I realized something crucial: The only way out was through me.

That moment wiped out every excuse I had. My fears of writing bad copy, struggling with English, and wasting money on ads? Gone. Because the alternative—watching my family collapse—was far worse.

People talk about motivation like it’s some fluffy, feel-good thing. But the truth?

Fear is the most powerful motivator there is.

Some people get fired up by positive visions of the future. Me? I get lit up by the thought of what happens if I don’t act.

And that’s why I ask you:

What’s your defining moment?

If you don’t have one yet, you need to create it. Because when the pain of inaction outweighs the pain of action, everything changes.

Forever.

MINDSET MAKEOVER

Why Being Normal is the Fastest Way to Fail

Most people live their entire lives desperately trying to be normal.

They want a safe job, a predictable paycheck, and a house with a white picket fence.

They want to fit in.

But here’s the brutal truth: normal is just another word for average.

And average is a life sentence.

I realized this the hard way. I was working 14-hour shifts, scrubbing hotel rooms, trying to save up for a $1,600 laptop. No weekends. No breaks. Just grinding non-stop.

At the end of the month? I was still $200 short.

That’s when it hit me.

If I could work double the hours of a normal person and still not afford a basic necessity, then something was seriously wrong with the system.

Normal people accept this. They swipe a credit card, take out a loan, or just give up and settle.

I refused. I made a decision that day: I would never be normal again.

Because normal means you struggle.
Normal means you live paycheck to paycheck.
Normal means you wake up at 60, realizing you spent your whole life building someone else’s dream.

The world has enough normal people. What it needs are people willing to be extraordinary.

So here’s my challenge to you:

Stop striving for normal. Start striving for greatness.

Because if you’re not aiming to be extraordinary, you’re settling for mediocrity.

And mediocrity is the real tragedy.

CURATED READS

Why “Doing It All Yourself” Will Keep You Broke

This Book Will Change How You See Your Business

Most people start a business because they’re good at something.

A great baker opens a bakery.
A talented graphic designer starts freelancing.
A skilled mechanic launches a repair shop.

Sounds logical, right? Wrong.

Because being good at a skill and knowing how to run a business are two completely different things.

That’s exactly what Michael E. Gerber breaks down in The E-Myth Revisited—and trust me, this book will save you years of frustration.

Gerber explains why most small businesses fail (hint: the owner spends too much time working in the company instead of on it). He reveals the mindset shifts and systems you need to scale without burning out.

If you’ve ever felt like your business is running you instead of the other way around, this book is a must-read.
