FROM MY WORLD

The 5 AM Book Club Fallacy: The Expensive Anxiety

Ever feel like you're running on a treadmill of self-help?

Reading all the books.
Buying all the courses.
Watching all the webinars.

And yet… your bank account still looks like it’s on a student diet.

I’ve got news that might sting: you're not learning — you're just hoarding information.

Look, I love cracking open a good book as much as the next ambitious hustler. But somewhere along the way, we started confusing consuming information with actually learning.

You know the type. (Maybe you are the type.)
Reads two books a week. Listens to 17 podcasts. Subscribes to every guru’s newsletter.
But can't sell a glass of water in the Sahara.

Why? Because knowledge without action is just expensive wallpaper for your brain.

Here’s what I’ve come to believe after years of being in the trenches, running a real business a,nd coaching hundreds of others:

Learning doesn’t happen when you read. It happens when you do.

You can’t learn how to swim by reading about swimming.
You can’t learn how to ride a bike from a YouTube video.
And you sure as hell can’t learn business from a guy who’s never run one.

No offense to college professors, but if you’ve been teaching business for 30 years and never sold so much as a lemonade, I’m not trusting you to show me how to build a six-figure list.

The truth is, most people are addicted to safe learning.
It feels productive.
It feels like growth.
But it's just a fancy form of procrastination with better packaging.

Real learning?

  • It’s messy.

  • It’s uncomfortable.

  • It’s failing your way forward.

You don’t need another course. You need to get your hands dirty.

That means launching the funnel even if it’s not perfect.
Sending the email even if it might bomb.
Running the traffic even if it flops.

Because that’s where the real “aha!” moments live.
Not in the classroom. Not in the Kindle. But in the doing.

And here’s the kicker:
This hit me hardest not while building million-dollar funnels…
…but while raising my daughter.

No matter how many times I explained something to her, she didn’t “get it” until she experienced it.
She had to bump into the wall herself. Skin her knee. Screw it up.
And then she learned.

Just like you will.

So if you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like all that learning hasn’t moved the needle?

Stop stuffing your head.

Start using what’s already in there.

MINDSET MAKEOVER

I Whac-A-Moled My Life Until I Stole This Navy SEAL Strategy

Ever started your day like a productivity ninja… only to find yourself hours later elbow-deep in YouTube rabbit holes and Reddit debates about AI overlords?

Yeah, me too.

That’s because we’ve been sold this idea that starting strong is the key. Wake up early, slam a cold shower, meditate with monks, and write three pages of gratitude. Sounds great on paper.

But let’s be honest — even the best morning routine can’t save you if you spend the rest of the day playing Whac-A-Mole with your to-do list.

Here’s the mindset shift that changed the game for me:

Don’t just win the morning. Win the order of battle.

I’m talking about a deceptively simple idea: Big Rocks First.

No, it’s not a geology course.
It’s about tackling the hard stuff — the uncomfortable, soul-shaking, business-building stuff — before anything else.

Most people? They do the opposite.
They start with email.
They check stats.
They update a logo. (Again.)
Why? Because it’s easy. It feels productive. And it’s a fake win.

But that one “big scary thing” on your list?
The sales page. The cold email. The ad campaign.
That’s the real win. And it’s usually the thing we dodge the hardest.

I used to come home from work, thinking I’d grind it out in the evenings. But let’s be real — after a full day of life draining your soul like a slow-leaking tire, your brain is in Netflix mode, not beast mode.

So I flipped the script.

I stopped waiting for the perfect moment.
I grabbed my old desktop computer, shoved it into my security booth job, and started working on my dreams before I clocked in.

That move? Changed everything.

Because willpower is like battery life — it dies with every decision you delay.

When you attack your Big Rock first, while your mental battery’s full, you start building real momentum. Not the illusion of productivity… but actual, money-making, life-changing momentum.

So next time you write your to-do list, don’t ask:
“What can I check off fastest?”

Ask:
“What am I avoiding that would move the needle the most?”

Then eat that frog for breakfast. No toast, no excuses.

CURATED READS

The Definitive Guide to TikTok Advertising by Perry Marshall

If the word “TikTok” still makes you roll your eyes and think of teenagers doing the worm in their kitchen… It’s time for a mindset reset.

Because TikTok isn’t just a playground for Gen Z.
It’s a marketing goldmine.
And Perry Marshall — the guy who literally wrote the book on Google Ads — just dropped the ultimate playbook for how to dominate it.

The Definitive Guide to TikTok Advertising is like strapping a rocket to your offer and aiming it at one of the world’s fastest-growing traffic sources.

Perry doesn’t waste time on fluff or theory. He goes straight into what matters:

  • How TikTok's ad algorithm really works

  • Why it’s not just a Facebook clone (and how to use that to your advantage)

  • Real-world campaigns that crush it

  • How to convert that viral attention into real buyers

Whether you’re a die-hard media buyer or just getting started, this book will shortcut your learning curve faster than any overpriced course.

It’s tactical. It’s sharp. And it’ll make you rethink everything you thought you knew about short-form video traffic.

Get it, read it, apply it. Then watch your cost per lead drop and your sales blow up.
