FROM MY WORLD

The Death of ‘Buy My Stuff’ Marketing

The other day, I was scrolling through my Facebook feed, and something caught my eye.

Ads. Lots of them.

But not from businesses. These ads were from people I knew personally—people with zero marketing experience, working full-time jobs, suddenly trying to sell something online.

It hit me: the internet has destroyed the barriers to entry.

You no longer need a huge budget. You don’t need connections. You don’t even need much experience. If you have a brain, a pair of hands, and a Facebook Ads account, you’re in the game.

Sounds like a dream, right?

Not exactly.

Because when everyone can advertise, you’re now competing with thousands of people screaming the same thing:

  •  "My product is better!"

  • "My solution is faster!"

  • "My thing is newer!"

And you know what happens next?

Your prospect tunes it all out.

Why? Because the human brain is a filtering machine. With 6,000 to 10,000 ads bombarding people daily, their brains create shortcuts to block the noise.

If you look and sound like everyone else, you vanish into the background.

You become dust in the wind.

So , how do you stand out?

Stop selling products. Start selling ideas.

Think about it: People don’t buy products. They buy beliefs.

  • They didn’t buy Subway sandwiches—they bought the Jared story about weight loss.

  • They didn’t buy Apple computers—they bought the Think Different movement.

  • They didn’t buy Peloton bikes—they bought the fitness lifestyle.

This is the secret weapon of the world’s best marketers. Instead of hammering product features, they introduce big ideas that hook the brain and make people want to listen.

This isn’t new. Legendary copywriter Eugene Schwartz figured this out decades ago.

But 99% of marketers today still don’t get it.

In today’s marketplace, there are two types of marketers:

  • Those who sell products.

  • And those who print money.

Which one are you?

MINDSET MAKEOVER

The Secret Fuel of Self-Made Millionaires

Most people think success is about talent, luck, or having the right connections.

It’s not.

Success is about hunger—the kind that makes you push through obstacles when others quit. The kind that makes you act fast instead of overthinking. The kind that turns adversity into fuel.

Ever notice how so many wildly successful people are immigrants?

Arnold Schwarzenegger. Elon Musk. Gary Vaynerchuk.

They didn’t get ahead because they had an easy start. They got ahead because they had no choice but to hustle. When you grow up in survival mode—dumpster diving for food, learning a new language overnight, fighting just to make it—you don’t sit around waiting for things to happen.

You make them happen.

That’s what Bedros Keuilian calls the "Immigrant Edge."

  • Speed of Implementation. Immigrants don’t have time to "think it over." They see an opportunity, they take it. Fast. That’s why most people watch webinars, while immigrants implement them.

  • Building Rapport Fast. When you move from country to country, school to school, you learn to connect with people quickly. You get good at making people trust you—and that’s a superpower in business.

  • Embracing Adversity. Most people run from pain. Immigrants know that pain is what makes you stronger. The more challenges you face, the tougher and smarter you become.

But here’s the kicker…

You don’t have to be an immigrant to have the Immigrant Edge.

You can build it.

How? By choosing discomfort instead of waiting for life to force it on you.

  •  Take on challenges you suck at. Hate public speaking? Book a speech. Out of shape? Sign up for a marathon. Afraid of rejection? Start cold-calling.

  •  Move fast. Cut your deadlines in half. Then half again. Success loves speed.

  •  Stop waiting for the “right time.” There is no right time. Take the damn shot.

Because in 20 years, you won’t regret the things you tried and failed at.

You’ll regret the things you never had the guts to do.
