FROM MY WORLD
The $2.99 Disaster
There’s broke… and then there’s delusional broke.
Let me tell you about a guy who emailed us recently. He was upset. Furious even. Why? Because he couldn’t make any money running paid traffic. “It just doesn’t convert,” he cried.
So naturally, we asked for his offer.
And what do we find?
This man… spent two months writing a long-ass sales letter to sell a $2.99 report. That’s not a typo. Two dollars and ninety-nine cents. What’s the offer, you ask?
A grand exposé about how the evil marketing “gurus” are scamming people.
Let’s take a moment and think this through.
This guy is trying to make money by selling a cheap product that exposes the very industry he’s trying to sell it in… to people who don’t want to buy anything.
I mean—what in the schizophrenic sales strategy is going on here?
Even if he sold 100 copies, that’s $299 total revenue. Not profit—revenue. That’s not a business. That’s a very expensive hobby.
But the pricing is only half the tragedy. The real horror show here is his mindset.
Here’s a guy spending weeks of his life crafting a product that serves absolutely no one. It doesn’t solve a problem. It doesn’t help anyone get a result. It’s just a $3 tantrum on paper. And he’s shocked—shocked!—that it’s not flying off the digital shelves.
Look, I get it. It’s fun to point fingers at “the gurus.” But blaming others for your empty wallet is like yelling at the thermostat for it being cold. You can scream all you want, but you’re the one who needs to turn up the heat.
And the worst part?
This guy isn’t even aware that his thinking is the problem.
He thinks he’s the hero. The white knight exposing the evil empire. But in reality? He’s just another broke guy shouting into the void, wondering why no one’s listening.
That’s what I call Shelf-Help Syndrome. You buy info. You read the info. You feel smart. You feel “woke.” And then you do absolutely nothing with it… Except maybe slap a $2.99 price tag on it and try to sell it to other broke folks.
If this hit a little close to home,… good.
You need to ask yourself: Am I trying to build something valuable? Or am I just trying to be right?
Because the market doesn’t care if you’re right. The market rewards value. The market rewards results.
Unless you flip that inner switch and stop playing the victim, you’ll stay exactly where you are.
Broke. Frustrated. And confused why your noble $2.99 rebellion isn’t making you rich.

MINDSET MAKEOVER
The Rooftop Illusion
Ever felt like you were meant for more?
Like you’re built for something bigger than clocking into a job you hate... or watching someone else live your dream on Instagram while you sit there munching chips?
Yeah?
Then let’s talk about the biggest lie you’ve been sold:
“You’ll succeed if you just keep trying.”
Bull. Absolute garbage.
Look—I’m all for hustle. I’m all for resilience. But if you keep climbing the wrong damn ladder, it doesn’t matter how hard you try—you’ll still end up on the wrong rooftop.
That’s the slap-to-the-face lesson I wish someone had drilled into my skull earlier.
See, most people waste years chasing what society told them success looks like. College degree? Corporate job? Retirement at 65? Sounds like a great deal... for the 1950s. Today, it’s just a glorified hamster wheel.
What you need instead is clarity.
Clarity about what you want.
Clarity about what works.
Clarity about what sucks and should be ditched faster than a toxic ex.
And here’s the twist: Getting clarity isn’t about reading more books or watching another “10 Steps to Success” YouTube video.
It’s about doing the uncomfortable work—the stuff that makes your palms sweaty and your inner coward scream.
It's about:
Admitting that what you're doing isn't working.
Ditching that business model just because some guru said it's the "next big thing."
Saying “no” to things that don’t serve you, even if they pay the bills.
Because the truth is, you can’t get what you want if you don’t know what that is in the first place.
So stop worshipping effort.
Start worshipping direction.
Because when you mix insane effort with the wrong direction... you don’t end up rich—you end up tired, bitter, and wondering why nothing’s working.
And I don’t want that for you.
Do you want to stay nice and broke?
Or become successful and impactful?
Because in this world, you can either play nice or play to win.
You choose…

CURATED READS
Trust, Not Trends: Marketing’s Golden Rule

This Book Should Come With a Warning Label...
"Warning: This may cause explosive business growth and an uncontrollable urge to write better copy."
I’m talking about "Overdeliver" by Brian Kurtz—and let me tell you, this isn’t just another marketing book with fluff and filler. This one’s a direct response bible wrapped in humility and savage wisdom.
Brian is the guy behind some of the most successful direct mail campaigns of all time—think $100 million level success. And yet, the dude isn’t trying to be your guru. He’s just showing you how to actually build a long-lasting business that serves people and prints money (in that order).
Inside, he breaks down:
The eternal principles of direct marketing work no matter what’s trending.
Why list building is the real business, not just a side hustle.
How to “overdeliver” in a way that makes people throw their wallets at you.
And my personal favorite: His behind-the-scenes stories of marketing giants, the kind that make you pause, laugh, and then go “Damn... I need to step it up.”
If you want to be the kind of marketer people trust, remember, and buy from, this is your playbook.
Read it once, then read it again with a highlighter. You’ll thank me later.
